LunaPic Collage

We learnt how to use LunaPic today. You upload a photo of yourself into LunaPic and chose a filter or an art effect to change the photo into a type of art. It was fun looking through all the effects and filters, you could waste a lot of time looking at them all. It was hard to choose a style but I think the ones I chose are my favourites of the effects I saw.

What is Media?

This week one type of media I used was the radio. I listened to the All Blacks test against Australia on the radio in the car as we were driving home from Hamilton and couldn't watch the game live on tv like we normally would. It was very different listening to the game and having to picture what was happening in my head instead of seeing it all on the tv.

My Visual Mihi

We are learning to create a visual mihi without using words. I had to find images using the explore button so I knew I was allowed to use them without having to get permission. I had to insert  pictures that showed some of my favourite things. I had to take a selfie but I could not work out how to turn on the camera so I copied the image from my blog profile to put into my visual mihi.

Writing Quality Comments Session #2

This week in our Cybersmart lesson we continued with our work on writing quality comments and publishing them on other people's blogs. We worked on being positive, thoughtful and helpful. We also talked about how asking a question at the end might get people to reply to our comment.

This week we commented on Room 6 @ Wainui School's blog post on Beebot Disco. You can view the blog post and read our comments here.

You can read all our comments on the Google Doc we all worked on here.

Here are some of our comments. Do you think these are quality comments?

Cole's Swim For Life

Every Monday Rimu Hub go to Swim For Life.

We have all made a blog post about Swim For Life. You can read other student's blogs by looking in the side bar and clicking on their name. Please leave a comment if you look at their blog.

Here is Cole's work.  Please visit his blog here and leave a comment.

Every Monday we go to Enterprise pool on a bus.
The bus is green white and orange and sometimes we all have different buses.
We play games on the buses all different kinds of games like rock-paper-scissors and more.
We have to bring togs and goggles but if you forget your goggles they have some there.
I like the Domino's cos the other person would pull you in backwards into the pool with life jackets.
We have six groups in swimming two groups go together at a time.
On the way back we have to drop Libby off at her house cos she goes home straight after swimming.
The life jackets help us to float on our back.

Swim for Life

Swim For Life is important because it teaches us what to do if we get into difficulty in the water. Living in Tairāwhiti we have lots of beaches, rivers and lakes around us. We also can have very hot summers so many kids spend the summer enjoying being in the water so it is important that our tamariki know how to be safe in the water.

Even though I don't get into the water because I am the teacher, I am watching the Swim for Life tutors teaching our learners so I get tips and ideas that I can use when I take a class swimming in our school pool in the summer.

All our learners enjoy the Swim for Life lessons, and they show our school values and learner qualities of resilience, confidence and perseverance as well as self manager each time they go to Swim for Life.

My digital learning object shows I can add text to shapes and embed the slides in my blog.
