Making a GIF

Today we learnt how to make a GIF. We had to make just a few changes to each frame to make it animated.  I found it hard to draw just using the mouse pad! Everyone had a lot of fun creating their Christmas GIFs!

LunaPic Collage

We learnt how to use LunaPic today. You upload a photo of yourself into LunaPic and chose a filter or an art effect to change the photo into a type of art. It was fun looking through all the effects and filters, you could waste a lot of time looking at them all. It was hard to choose a style but I think the ones I chose are my favourites of the effects I saw.

What is Media?

This week one type of media I used was the radio. I listened to the All Blacks test against Australia on the radio in the car as we were driving home from Hamilton and couldn't watch the game live on tv like we normally would. It was very different listening to the game and having to picture what was happening in my head instead of seeing it all on the tv.

My Visual Mihi

We are learning to create a visual mihi without using words. I had to find images using the explore button so I knew I was allowed to use them without having to get permission. I had to insert  pictures that showed some of my favourite things. I had to take a selfie but I could not work out how to turn on the camera so I copied the image from my blog profile to put into my visual mihi.

You can read all our comments on the Google Doc we all worked on here.

Cole's Swim For Life

Every Monday Rimu Hub go to Swim For Life.

We have all made a blog post about Swim For Life. You can read other student's blogs by looking in the side bar and clicking on their name. Please leave a comment if you look at their blog.

Here is Cole's work.  Please visit his blog here and leave a comment.

Every Monday we go to Enterprise pool on a bus.
The bus is green white and orange and sometimes we all have different buses.
We play games on the buses all different kinds of games like rock-paper-scissors and more.
We have to bring togs and goggles but if you forget your goggles they have some there.
I like the Domino's cos the other person would pull you in backwards into the pool with life jackets.
We have six groups in swimming two groups go together at a time.
On the way back we have to drop Libby off at her house cos she goes home straight after swimming.
The life jackets help us to float on our back.

Swim for Life

Swim For Life is important because it teaches us what to do if we get into difficulty in the water. Living in Tairāwhiti we have lots of beaches, rivers and lakes around us. We also can have very hot summers so many kids spend the summer enjoying being in the water so it is important that our tamariki know how to be safe in the water.

Even though I don't get into the water because I am the teacher, I am watching the Swim for Life tutors teaching our learners so I get tips and ideas that I can use when I take a class swimming in our school pool in the summer.

All our learners enjoy the Swim for Life lessons, and they show our school values and learner qualities of resilience, confidence and perseverance as well as self manager each time they go to Swim for Life.

My digital learning object shows I can add text to shapes and embed the slides in my blog.

Quality Blog Posts

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were learning about quality Blog Posts. We started our blog post with some reflections on leanring. We embedded our "Exploring Blog" slides as well. We had to make sure our blog post had a title and labels before we published it.

Here is Matthew L's work...

Today I was learning to get information from other peoples blog posts.

My new learning was how to see other people's world map.

I enjoyed finding out new things about different people.

I found it challenging to write everything.

My digital learning object shows I can  read other people's blogs carefully,  find information and fill in a table.

Next time I would change everything the speed I did it at.

Exploring Blogs

Today I was learning how to find my way around a blog, and seeing where to find information about the person blogging.

My new learning was I found where the blogs  show you how many people have visited your blog as well as the  different countries the blog visitors come from.

I enjoyed reading the other people's blogs to find out a bit about them.

I found it challenging to remember to make a copy of the work first before I could start.

My digital learning object shows I can  read other people's blogs carefully,  find information and fill in a table.

Next time I would change how I got the information, it would be quicker to copy and paste the information I wanted rather than type it all myself.

Exploring Blogs

Today in our Cybersmart lesson we were exploring blogs and looking for information on them.
We had to look carefully at the side bars to find information and statistics.
We scanned the blog description to find information quickly about the person, their school and their profile.
We looked at how many people had visited the blogs, how many different countries these visitors were from and how many blog posts they had done in 2019.

Have you looked at your blog statistics recently?
How do they compare with these one that Braiden found?

We could find information quickly from the blog description and "About Me".
Have you go this information on your blog?
Here's Charlie's work with the information found on the blogs.

We learned that the shortcut to get to our History is Control + H.

My Profile

Today I was learning about using Google Draw to create a profile about myself. I enjoyed changing the fonts and colours.  I found it challenging to embed it onto my blog.  My digital learning object shows I can replace images, use the camera app, change text and backgrounds and embed my DLO in my blog. Next time I would change the colour of my text so it stands out more.

Lockdown Hero

We have been learning how to embed a slide into our blog.  We made a medal for a Lockdown Hero in our bubble. I chose my daughter as she was our dedicated shopper and would have to wait in line at the supermarket after a day at work as an essential worker.  It was tricky to remember the steps to to embed my slide into my blog. Changing the height and the width made it look better on the screen.
