I am a teacher at Ormond School in Turanganui-a-Kiwa/Gisborne and I teach in Rimu Hub with the year 4, 5 and 6 learners. The other teachers in the hub are Mrs Thompson and Mrs Parsons.
We have been learning about how to keep safe on the internet. This week we learnt how to seek help if things don't go right on the internet.
We have been learning about social engineering and how some people try to trick you into giving them your personal details or scam you in some way. Don't fall for something fake!
This week one type of media I used was the radio. I listened to the All Blacks test against Australia on the radio in the car as we were driving home from Hamilton and couldn't watch the game live on tv like we normally would. It was very different listening to the game and having to picture what was happening in my head instead of seeing it all on the tv.
We are learning to create a visual mihi without using words. I had to find images using the explore button so I knew I was allowed to use them without having to get permission. I had to insert pictures that showed some of my favourite things. I had to take a selfie but I could not work out how to turn on the camera so I copied the image from my blog profile to put into my visual mihi.
